This July and August, Bard SummerScape, a multi-arts festival presented by the Fisher Center at Bard, returns with a full season of live music, dance, opera, and performance, staged for limited in-person audiences both indoors and out across Bard’s idyllic 1,000-acre campus, while adhering to rigorous health and safety protocols.

The Video Engineer 2 for Sosnoff Theater is part of the Video Team in the Production Department, and will support the execution of video elements and needs in the Sosnoff Theater. They report to the Video Supervisor, working closely under Sosnoff V1 and with other production team members and video/projection designers.

The Sosnoff V2 supports and operates video systems in Sosnoff theater, servicing the Bard Music Festival. During show runs, V2 will serve as PTZ camera operator. Outside of show run, V2 will participate in maintenance and troubleshooting activities with the Sosnoff Video Engineer.

This is a seasonal position from June 24 to August 19, 2021, non-exempt (overtime-eligible), paid hourly at a rate range of $20–24/hr, depending on experience.

This position requires local residence; housing will be provided if needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

-Maintain a safe, healthy, and inclusive workplace at all times.

-Assist the Video Engineer in the preparation, installation, operation, and maintenance of all video aspects of all productions and special events in the Fisher Center, as well as at Montgomery Place.

-Actively participate in all video work calls in the Fisher Center, as well as Montgomery Place as schedules allow.
Create video paperwork as needed.
Assist the Video Engineer in maintaining all video equipment, including rental gear.

-Attend and work technical rehearsals and performances for the opera, as well as the Bard Music Festival as needed.
Assist the Associate Production Manager in providing video support for all orchestra rehearsals in Sosnoff Theater, as well as at Montgomery Place.

-Assist the Video Engineer in the preparation, installation, maintenance, and operation of streaming systems in both Sosnoff Theater and Montgomery Place.

QUALIFICATIONS

-General troubleshooting skills.

-Basic knowledge of general theatrical production practices.

-Familiarity with signaling, camera, and display technologies.

-Proficiency with general camera operation is essential, but training will be offered on specific equipment in use during SummerScape.

Experience and exposure to several different PTZ camera systems is helpful, but not required.

-Successful candidates possess strong communication skills and a keen attention to detail.  They are collaborative, self-motivated, and bring a positive, can-do attitude!

Bard’s beautiful 1,000-acre campus is situated on the east bank of the Hudson River, in Annandale-on Hudson, New York. Nearby towns and villages include Rhinebeck, Tivoli, and Red Hook, New York.
