Job Title: Director of Production and Facilities

Salary: $45,000-48,000

Type: Full time, Salaried, Exempt

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Director of Production and Facilities (DP&F) is an integral member of an eight-person, year-round, full-time staff responsible for day-to-day production and facilities support. The DP&F will assist the Producing Artistic Director and Managing Director to define the scope of programming, organizational calendar, and budget for each season. They will manage all production resources, including theatrical and rehearsal spaces, equipment, and seasonal calendars; oversee designers and ensure a successful design process where deadlines and budgets are met; and supervise and support production department heads. They will work with the Managing Director to maintain and improve CRT’s seven buildings, which comprise two performance spaces, two rehearsal studios, administrative offices, scene shop, costume shop, and housing.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & TRANSFERABLE SKILLS:

Significant knowledge, skills, and experience in all aspects of theatre production, including scenic, costumes, lighting, sound, video/projection, rigging, and stage management required.

Basic facilities systems knowledge / “home improvement” skills (carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and roofing) a plus.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (primarily Word, Excel, and PowerPoint); Autocad and/or Vectorworks; and digital conference / streaming platforms (primarily Zoom and Streamyard).

Ability to communicate with staff, seasonal employees, board members, patrons, and vendors in person, by phone, and via email.

Experience in a variety of venues / formats (proscenium, thrust, in-the-round, outdoor) preferred.

Prior institutional leadership role(s), with demonstrable experience in effective, collegial team building.

Ability to work independently, as a collaborative team member, and team leader.

High level of discretion and confidentiality.

Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.

Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.

Ability to manage stress, time pressures, and conflict resolution.

Ability to manage time effectively, set priorities, and meet established deadlines.

Ability to supervise and support a diverse workforce, meeting the needs of the individuals and the collective.

English fluency required.

Ability to lift 50 lbs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Production:

Recruit, hire, train, and oversee the seasonal production team. Direct reports will include all production shop heads (including Technical Director, Props Supervisor, Costume Shop Manager, Lighting & Sound Supervisor, and/or Stage Managers; size of teams and exact positions dependent on scope of Season).

Hire and oversee Designers, in coordination with the Producing Artistic Director.

Schedule and lead production meetings; attend all necessary rehearsals, technical rehearsals, and preview performances.

Maintain a safe working environment.

Management of theatrical spaces and production resources / equipment.

Coordinate load-in, change-over, and strike of all shows.

Maintain production calendars.

Coordinate production logistics and provide support for supplemental programming, special events, digital programming, play readings, and education programs.

Alongside the Producing Artistic Director and Managing Director, create and maintain the annual production budget. Track all departmental expenditures.

Approve production payroll and hours tracking.

Supervise production petty cash, credit cards, reimbursements, and financial reconciliation for all production departments.

Maintain relationships with vendors and community partners.

 

Facilities:

Develop and implement a prioritized plan for the upkeep, preventative maintenance, and improvement of CRT’s facilities and vehicles.

Hire, oversee, and coordinate work by part-time Facilities Associate and outside contractors.

Keep detailed repair and acquisition records.

Perform maintenance and repair tasks within skill level.

Maintain relationships with vendors and community partners, including Mineral County and City of Creede.

Alongside the Managing Director, create and maintain the annual facilities budget. Track all departmental expenditures.

Coordinate pre and post-season deep-cleanings of all facilities, as well as weekly cleanings of theatrical spaces during the Season.

Creede Repertory Theatre Team Member:

Serve as a member of the administrative team.

Attend special events, performances, company functions, publicity functions, and other events as required by CRT.

Participate in all staff, company, production, design, Board of Trustees, and/or assigned committee meetings as required by CRT.

Participate in the betterment of CRT’s facilities and buildings, as needed.

Contribute to a respectful and inclusive environment in every aspect of your work.
