By Andrew Gans
14 Jan 2004

Tonya Pinkins, who received rave reviews for her work in Caroline, or Change, will head to the intimate stage of Joe's Pub Feb. 15.

The Tony Award-winning actress will present an evening devoted to the works of composer Harold Arlen. The 7 PM concert, titled "My Shining Hour," will celebrate the 99th anniversary of the composer who penned such classics as "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," "Stormy Weather," "Paper Moon," "The Man That Got Away" and "That Old Black Magic." Kimberly Grigsby will be Pinkins' musical director.

Tonya Pinkins received a Tony Award for her performance in Jelly's Last Jam. Her other Broadway credits include Merrily We Roll Along, Chronicle of a Death Foretold, Play On! (Tony nomination) and The Wild Party. She recently starred in the City Center Encores! mounting of Harold Arlen's House of Flowers, and she is currently reprising her role as Livia Frye on the ABC serial "All My Children."

Joe's Pub is located at 425 Lafayette Street, between East 4th Street and Astor Place. Tickets, priced at $25, are available at the Public Theater's box office or by calling (212) 539-8778.
