A Year With Frog and Toad, the Tony Award-nominated new musical, will close June 15 at the Cort Theatre after 15 previews and 73 performances, the producers announced June 3.

The family-friendly show has suffered at the box office, but earned three 2003 Tony Award nominations, for Best Book, Best Score and Best Musical. Plans for a tour are in the works, the creators have said.

The musical inspired by the children's books by Arnold Lobel, started a new summer schedule the week of May 19. The new schedule has Monday and Tuesday still dark, with shows relighting the Cort 2 & 7 PM Wednesday, 2 PM Thursday, 7 PM Friday, noon & 3:30 PM Saturday, 1 & 5 PM Sunday.

A Year With Frog and Toad, as the title suggests, follows a year in the lives of two amphibious pals in the woods. Cookies, bathing, the seasons, Christmas and friendship are all celebrated via the music of Robert Reale and the book and lyrics of brother Willie Reale.

The show was developed by Adrianne Lobel (Arnold Lobel's daughter), who also designs and co-produces the staging, first seen in summer 2002 in Minneapolis.

David Petrarca directs and Daniel Pelzig choreographs. Starring Mark Linn-Baker (Toad) and Jay Goede (Frog), A Year With Frog and Toad opened Sunday, April 13. The cast includes Danielle Ferland, Jennifer Gambatese and Frank Vlastnik, and is produced by Bob Boyett, Lobel, Michael Gardner, Lawrence Horowitz and Roy Furman.

A cast album is available.

Tickets range from $25-$80 and can be purchased at at (212) 239-6200, or in person at the Cort Theater box office, 138 W. 48th Street.

Jay Goede missed performances in recent weeks due to a burst appendix. He returned to the show May 30.
