59E59 Theaters to Host Chat with Alan Ayckbourn

By Adam Hetrick
02 Nov 2009

Olivier Award-winning playwright Alan Ayckbourn will discuss his latest play, My Wonderful Day, at 59E59 Theaters on Nov. 15.

Ayckbourn will join American Theater Wing executive director Howard Sherman for the 12:30 PM conversation. The two will discuss the forthcoming production of My Wonderful Day, which Ayckbourn is also directing, as well as his extensive body of work.

The production, which marks the veteran playwright's 73rd work, will begin its Off-Broadway run Nov. 11 as part of the Brits Off-Broadway Festival.

Following its world premiere at the Stephen Joseph Theatre in Scarborough, where Ayckbourn serves as artistic director, My Wonderful Day officially opens Off-Broadway Nov. 18 and will run through Dec. 13.

In previous seasons the Brits Off-Broadway festival presented the U.S. premieres of Ayckbourn's Private Fears in Public Places and Intimate Exchanges. Ayckbourn was also represented on Broadway this year with the Tony-winning revival of The Norman Conquests. His numerous plays include Woman In Mind, Relatively Speaking, How The Other Half Loves, Absurd Person Singular, Bedroom Farce, A Chorus of Disapproval, A Small Family Business, Henceforward..., Comic Potential, Things We Do For Love and House & Garden.

For tickets to the discussion, priced $25, phone (212) 279-4200 or visit TicketCentral.
