The Play Group Theatre, a vibrant and busy 15 year old children’s theatre company in White Plains, NY, is seeking interns to assist in all aspects of production for our Fall 2009 season and to help as we move to our new location - a 20,000 square foot facility which includes a mainstage and studio theatre, as well as a scene shop, costume shop and rehearsal studios.
We are seeking candidates who are eager to learn and ready to work in a child-centered, creatively charged environment. We are a team of dedicated, hard-working, friendly professionals who are committed to providing our students and audiences with high-quality productions and to continuously challenging ourselves as artists and educators.
Interns are needed to work in the costume shop, scene shop and/or offices, lending support to directors, designers and administrators on a variety of artistic, technical and administrative tasks. Candidates should possess a working knowledge of theatre design as well as basic skills in sewing, painting and/or scenic construction.
As we are approaching the final stages of construction and preparation of our new facility, candidates should also be prepared to work on site - painting, organizing the new costume and/or scene shop, installing technical equipment and lending a hand in all aspects of the impending move.
Costume, Administrative and Scene Shop Internships may be filled by three separate individuals, or by one candidate who is well versed in, and has an enthusiasm for, all of the above mentioned disciplines.
Travel stipend will be provided.
