Non-Union Actors for National Tour
Two Beans Productions will hold non-union open auditions for national tours of Tales of a Fourth-Grade Nothing by Judy Blume and Jack Sprat Low-Fat World Tour by Michael Mark and John Forster. These shows are aimed at grades K-4 and are booked through TheatreworksUSA. Tales begins rehearsals 12/27/09 and tours until 6/15/10. Sprat begins rehearsals 1/28/10 and tours until 5/1/10. Producer-Director is Rob Barron, choreographer is Cynthia Thole and casting director is G. Wayne Hoffman.
Seeking all types of young adult actors to form multi-ethnic casts for each show. Performers will sign a contract covering the whole tour which will also include some ASM duties such as load-ins/-outs, driving, etc. Shows rehearse in NYC and play local dates in addition to touring. Therefore, performers will need accommodations in the immediate NYC area accessible to local public transportation. Salary is $375 per week. Per diem is $46 when touring out of town.
Auditions will be held at Chelsea Studios, 151 W 26th St (between 6th & 7th Aves), 5th floor, NYC on Saturday November 14th 10a-1p. Sign-up begins at 9:30am. If asked to return, callbacks will take place on Saturday November 21st. Actors for Tales should prepare a modern, comic monologue appropriate to the material. Actors for Jack Sprat should prepare 16 bars of an uptempo & ballad in standard Broadway, Disney or light pop style.
For Tales:
This show is based on the first of the Fudge books and contains the same characters. The story focuses on the adventures of fourth-grader Peter Warren Hatcher and his annoying brother Farley Drexel (who is only known as "Fudge"), Peter's pet turtle, his classmates and his family.
Roles:
PETER: Male, the spunky and resourceful fourth-grader of the title. Frequently called upon by his family to save the day.
FUDGE: Male preferred but females will also be considered, a precocious three-year old (!). Lovable; mischievous; energetic; happy-go-lucky; emulates his big brother Peter.
MOM: Female, Loves her family deeply; sometimes overwhelmed by the rollercoaster ride of raising a family.
DAD: Male, Loving patriarch of the family, great with his kids; also plays SAM, a neurotic three-year old birth day guest who is terrified of his own shadow; also plays JIMMY FARGO, a lively playmate of Peter's; and also plays DR. BROWN; the family dentist.
ONE ACTRESS: Female, will play MS. YARBY, Dad's socially awkward and judgmental boss; SHEILA TUBMAN, one of Peter's obnoxious schoolmates; JENNIE, an out-of-control three year old birthday guest who likes to bite other kids; MR. VINCENT, a high energy Broadway Producer type Company Executive; and DR. CONE, the comforting family physician.
For Jack Sprat:
JACK SPRAT—Male, 5'10" or taller, Caucasian, baritone, must have an "F", hip-hop dancing a plus (think kid-friendly Eminem)
GLORIA SPRAT/OKRA WINFREY—Female, 5'6" or under, any ethnicity, hip-hop dancer, must belt to "C"
MC HUBBARD—Any gender, ethnicity or height, most important is a sassy personality
