About The Araca Group
Founded in 1997 by partners Matthew Rego, Michael Rego and Hank Unger, The Araca Group is a theatrical production and merchandise company. Current and recent productions include Wicked (Broadway, San Francisco, two US Tours, London, Sydney, Stuttgart, and Tokyo) as well as the Broadway productions of Rock of Ages, Boeing-Boeing, Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune, The Good Body, Match, ‘Night, Mother, Urinetown, The Vagina Monologues, and The Wedding Singer.
Position Summary:
The Director of Marketing will oversee advertising, marketing and publicity for Araca Group theatrical productions. It is currently anticipated that s/he will be working on two Broadway productions simultaneously. The Director will coordinate and supervise the work of outside advertising and marketing agencies in serving these productions, and s/he will report directly to the Araca partners. The Director will help draft, allocate and monitor the production’s advertising and publicity budgets. S/he will represent the partners at strategy and business meetings as required. The Director will also consult on certain operations of Araca’s merchandise division.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Develop a cohesive production advertising plan in a variety of media and supervise plan implementation with advertising agency
• Monitor the production budget advertising payables and expenses
• Facilitate partner approvals of art and copy
• Represent partners at advertising, publicity and marketing meetings
• Evaluate and guide ad campaign scale and direction
• Review all payables with general management and accounting.
• Coordinate and execute promotions.
• Serve as conduit between producers and press agency
• Assist The Araca Group’s merchandise division in developing merchandise marketing strategies via retail outlets, licensing and e-commerce.
Requirements:
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Personable and professional demeanor
• Familiarity with and passion for commercial theater
• B.A. or comparable work experience
• Previous theatrical advertising, marketing and/or publicity experience
• Strong customer-service skills
• Detail-oriented, able to communicate abstract ideas in vivid and compelling fashion
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment
• Innovative, goal-oriented, energetic and able to work independently
• Proficient in Word and Excel
