Broadway Artists Alliance is the dynamic not-for-profit educational organization that has earned the reputation for ensuring the future of great Broadway talent by bringing together Broadway artists and promising young performers.
BAA is seeking four seasonal department interns to assist with their annual advanced Musical Theater Program and Special Fall/Winter master classes, workshops and events. This is a 3 month part time commitment (November 16, 2009 to February 19, 2010).
Applicants with partial availability during the above time period will still be considered, however priority will be given to applicants available to begin November 16th). During One Day master classes and special events the daily hours are 9am-7pm. You may also be asked to chaperone evening activities (including Broadway shows, etc). Expect 15 full days of Master Classes throughout the 3 month internship (check our website or for specific dates). For the preparation weeks, interns are expected to commit to 10 to 15 hours per week (flexible hours). Full or part time internship college credit can be arranged.
Administrative Internship (2 positions)- Duties include administrative assistance, student correspondence, booking and scheduling, press and marketing assistance, telephone correspondence with participants and industry, merchandising assistance, music and sides preparation, assisting auditions, video-taping for class archives, and other duties as assigned. Small weekly stipend provided. Applicant must provide own housing arrangements in or near NYC. Our office and studios are located in midtown Manhattan.
Marketing/ Design Internship (1 position)- Duties include general web upkeep (knowledge of Dreamweaver and basic html), press release assistance, ad placement and design assistance, monitor online ad campaigns and web traffic, possible personal assistance to high profile guests, photography, general press, PR, and marketing assistance, new merchandising design assistance, assisting national auditions, and other duties as assigned. This position will work closely with both our Marketing Director and Program Director and will be tailored to the applicant’s strengths and abilities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills a must. Additional Website Design and Online Trafficking experience a plus. Please list all design programs you have both basic knowledge and fluent efficiency with. Weekly stipend provided. Applicant must provide own housing arrangements in or near NYC. Our office and studios are located in midtown Manhattan.
Education Internship (position filled as of 10/25).
Music Internship (1 position)- Duties include assisting our Music Department Head with the creation and upkeep of a database of cross-referenced song titles, research of song titles to be added to database, organization of sheet music, maintenance of private coaching schedule and bookkeeping, student correspondence, booking and scheduling, music and sides preparation, and other duties as assigned. Ability to read music a must. Piano/ accompaniment skills a plus. Small weekly stipend provided. Applicant must provide own housing arrangements in or near NYC. Our office is located in midtown Manhattan.
Positive and professional attitude and discretion are key, as you will be working with current Broadway stars, Tony Award winners, casting directors, agents, and managers. Past guests and master class instructors include Sutton Foster, Jason Robert Brown, Stephen Schwartz, Gregory Jbara, Michael Cerveris, Lea Salonga, Laura Benanti, Kelli O’Hara, Ashley Brown, Andrea Martin, Jonathan Groff, Chris Jackson, Norm Lewis, Beth Leavel, John Lloyd Young, Stephanie J. Block, Lea Michelle, Norbert Leo Butz, Megan Hilty, Marc Shaiman, John Gallagher Jr., etc.
Seeking college-age and early career applicants who are detail oriented, with excellent interpersonal, organization, and writing skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is also a must. Sincere interest in cultivating the training and success of talented young artists (ages 10-21) a must! Familiarity with both Mac and PC. Experience with Filemaker Pro helpful, but not mandatory.
Applicants should have a strong passion for the arts and advanced knowledge of contemporary musical theatre and its key players. Good opportunity for growth and promotion within the company.
